Every weave has a human story
At the Ban Du Lifelong Learning Center for Seniors in Chiang Rai, older artisans bring their creativity to life through handmade bags, baskets and decorative crafts. Around the worktable, colourful strands gradually become something useful, personal and full of character.
The makers work with three materials: plastic strapping bands, the strong bands used to secure cardboard boxes, woven into sturdy and colourful bags; synthetic rattan; and baskets that blend natural and synthetic rattan.
Our shop gives these makers a place to share their creations with a wider audience. Behind each piece are a person's hands, attention and individual way of working. Small differences in colour, shape and weaving are part of what makes handmade work special.
You can choose an available creation or ask about a custom design. Tell us about the colours, size and style you have in mind, and we will discuss what can be made. Each finished piece is unique.
